Seven-day Cyprus itinerary connects Paphos, Troodos, Limassol, Larnaca and Nicosia

Is it any wonder why this beach is called Blue Lagoon?

Paphos, Cyprus. A seven-day itinerary across Cyprus can cover the island’s archaeological sites, mountain villages, beaches and waterfront cities while allowing time for relaxation. The route begins in Paphos and ends in Larnaca, with an alternative direction also possible.

Travel arrangements

Travellers can fly into Paphos Airport and depart from Larnaca Airport, or follow the route in reverse. A rental car is recommended, as driving is on the left, roads are well maintained and daily journeys generally do not exceed 90 minutes.

Spring and autumn are suited to sightseeing, while summer is more suitable for beach visits but is busier.

Days one and two: Paphos and Akamas

The first day can be spent in Paphos, including the harbour, Medieval Castle and the UNESCO-listed Archaeological Park. The nearby Tombs of the Kings can also be visited before dining at one of the harbour’s seafood restaurants.

On the second day, the route continues to the Akamas Peninsula. Lara Beach is a possible stop during turtle nesting season, while the Blue Lagoon can be reached by boat or visited for swimming. The return journey can include Coral Bay, followed by a second night in Paphos.

Day three: Troodos Mountains

The route then moves inland to the Troodos Mountains, passing through villages including Omodos and Kakopetria. Visitors can see stone houses, local wineries and family-run tavernas, visit a monastery and take a short nature trail.

The evening can be spent sampling regional wines, with an overnight stay in the mountains or onward travel to Limassol.

Day four: Limassol

In Limassol, the itinerary includes the Marina, Old Town and Castle, followed by lunch on the seafront promenade. Afternoon options include shopping, beach time or a visit to a nearby winery.

The day concludes with dinner in the city.

Day five: Larnaca

Larnaca’s programme begins along Finikoudes Beach before visits to the old town and the Church of Saint Lazarus. Later stops include the Salt Lake and Hala Sultan Tekke.

During winter, flamingos gather on the Salt Lake. The day can end with dinner overlooking the Mediterranean.

Day six: Cape Greco and Protaras

The eastern section of the route includes Cape Greco National Forest Park and the Sea Caves. Visitors can then continue to Konnos Beach or Fig Tree Bay for swimming or snorkelling.

The day ends in Protaras, where seafood restaurants serve the area’s beach-resort visitors.

Day seven: Nicosia and airport transfers

The final day is allocated to Nicosia, including streets within the Venetian Walls, Ledra Street and the city’s museums. Visitors with sufficient time can cross the Green Line before lunch in the old town.

Travellers departing from Larnaca Airport should allow about 45 to 50 minutes to reach the terminal. Those leaving from Paphos Airport should allow approximately one hour and 45 minutes.
