Nicosia, Cyprus. Police arrested six people in overnight operations aimed at cracking down on crime. Officers also carried out traffic checks and inspections of establishments.
Driver arrested for speeding
Police arrested a driver after he was caught travelling at 160km/h in a 50km/h zone. He will be taken before the Nicosia district court on Wednesday for a remand order.
Traffic checks and offences recorded
Police pulled over 529 vehicles and checked 789 drivers and passengers. Of 291 individuals booked, 109 were for speeding. Police also reported one individual for drink driving and impounded 11 vehicles.
Inspections of establishments
Police inspected 28 establishments and filed one report.
