Syrian man dies after Limassol scooter collision

Limassol, Cyprus. A 24-year-old Syrian man died from injuries sustained in a traffic collision involving an electric scooter and a car on Solon Street on July 26, police said on Tuesday.

Ibrahim Al Aawad was seriously injured in the crash, which occurred at around 10.45pm, and later died at a private hospital.


Investigation continues

Police said the car driver left the scene after the collision. Officers are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the crash.

Al Aawad was taken by ambulance to a private hospital, and his relatives have been informed of his death.

Driver arrested

The 20-year-old driver was arrested last Tuesday after turning himself in at a police station.

He told officers he had fled because he did not have the necessary documents to drive the car.
