Limassol, Cyprus. Police arrested a 49-year-old man and two 38-year-olds in Limassol on suspicion of burglary and assaulting a police officer, authorities said on Monday. The three remain in custody while investigations continue.
Traffic stop and alleged assault
Police said the case emerged when officers from the Limassol traffic police stopped the 49-year-old for a routine inspection on Sunday. During the check, he allegedly pushed an officer in an attempt to escape, but was stopped by police and arrested.
Investigation and search
Following the arrest, police identified two 38-year-olds believed to have been involved in criminal activity with the 49-year-old. Police then searched the 49-year-old’s apartment and said they found several burglary tools, gold and jewellery, mobile phones and various other items.
Custody and ongoing inquiries
According to police, the three suspects refused to explain their possession of the items. They were taken in for questioning and arrested under court warrants, police said.
