Trump Says He Expects To Resume Bombing Iran As Ceasefire Extension Ruled Out

Washington, United States. President Donald Trump said he did not want to extend the ceasefire with Iran and expected bombing to resume if a deal was not reached soon, even as Washington expressed confidence that peace talks would go ahead in Pakistan.

Trump’s comments on the ceasefire

Trump told CNBC he did not want to extend the truce when asked about prolonging the ceasefire. “I don’t want to do that. We don’t have that much time,” he said.

Expectation of renewed military action

Trump said he expected bombing to resume, adding, “I expect to be bombing because I think that’s a better attitude to go in with. But we’re ready to go. I mean, the military is raring to go.”

Negotiating position and proposed talks

Trump said the United States was in a strong negotiating position and would ultimately secure what he called a great deal. A senior Iranian official said Tehran was positively reviewing its participation in the Pakistan talks, though no decision had been confirmed.
