Trump says Iran talks possible under conditions as Zarif rejects negotiations

Washington, United States. US President Donald Trump said he might consider engaging in talks with Iran, but any discussions would depend on the terms set by both sides. Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said Tehran was not currently considering negotiations with Washington.


Trump comments on potential dialogue

Speaking to Fox News on Monday evening, Trump said he had been informed that the Iranian side was eager for dialogue. He added that any talks would depend on the terms agreed by both sides.

Remarks on Iran’s Supreme Leader

Trump reiterated his dissatisfaction with Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, telling Fox News, “I don’t believe he can live peacefully.”

Iran rejects negotiations

Zarif said earlier that Tehran was not currently considering negotiations with Washington. “We have a very bitter experience with talks with the Americans,” he said, adding that both US attacks on Iran, one in June and the most recent, followed unsuccessful negotiations between the two nations. “Talks are no longer on our agenda,” he said.
