Washington, United States. President Donald Trump told Reuters that the United States would be “out of Iran pretty quickly” but could return for “spot hits” if needed. He made the comments on Wednesday ahead of a scheduled primetime address to the nation.
Planned U.S. exit and possible return
Asked when the United States would consider the Iran war over, Trump said he could not say exactly but added that the United States would leave quickly.
Trump said U.S. action has ensured Iran will not have a nuclear weapon. He said Iran “won’t have a nuclear weapon because they are incapable of that now,” adding that he would leave and take everyone with him, while reserving the option to return for “spot hits” if necessary.
Comments on NATO and possible withdrawal
Trump said he would express his disgust with NATO over what he considers the alliance’s lack of support for U.S. objectives in Iran. He said he is “absolutely” considering an attempt to withdraw the United States from NATO.
What do you think about the possibility of the United States withdrawing from NATO?
