Turkish referendum was the main topic in political circles

Тайип Эрдоган

According to the results of the referendum held in Turkey last week, more than half of Turkish residents agreed with the proposed amendments to the republic’s constitution.

New amendments will allow to change the system of government from parliamentary to presidential, significantly extending the president’s powers.

Referendum results raised deep concerns among opposition leaders and some of the world politicians, including Greek and Cyprus politicians.

Cyprus government representative Nikos Christodulis noted that the results of referendum could influence Cyprus reunification negotiations.

Interestingly, most of Turkish Cypriots voted against the constitutional amendments.
