Paphos, Cyprus. Police in Paphos arrested two people on Tuesday after a vehicle stop led to the discovery of suspected drugs and a subsequent search of a residence. One suspect was arrested for possession of drugs and another for residing in Cyprus illegally.
Vehicle stop and suspected drugs
Police pulled over a vehicle in Paphos driven by a 27-year-old man with a 33-year-old woman as a passenger. During inspections, officers found 6 grams of cannabis, 1 gram of what appeared to be cocaine, and 1 gram of a substance that may be methamphetamine.
The man said the substances were his and was arrested. Police also found a sum of cash, which was confiscated as evidence.
House search and second arrest
Police then searched the man’s home, where two unknown people were inside. One person fled before inspection. The second individual, a 28-year-old man, was found to be residing in Cyprus illegally and was arrested.
Police also found a locked room for which the 27-year-old held the keys. Inside, officers found 14 grams of cannabis, 40 grams of what appeared to be synthetic cannabis, and precision scales with traces of cannabis.
Court appearance
The 27-year-old is expected to be taken before the Paphos District Court on Wednesday for a remand order.
