Pervolia, Cyprus. Two paddleboarders were rescued off the coast of Pervolia on Friday after being swept out to sea, prompting activation of the national emergency response plan Nearchos.
Rescue operation
The joint rescue and coordination centre (JRCC) said the operation began at 10.15am after the two individuals were reported to be in danger. A helicopter from the 460th naval rescue squadron and a coast guard ambulance were mobilised, and the helicopter winched both individuals from the water at around 11am.
Medical checks
The two paddleboarders were transported to shore and handed over to an ambulance for precautionary medical checks. Authorities said both were found to be in good health and were released.
