New York, United States. The United Nations Human Rights Office on Friday called for stronger government regulation and oversight of online platforms to better protect children, describing the issue as an urgent priority.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk said in a statement that enhancing protection of children online is an urgent priority and that it must be done correctly.
Role of technology companies
Türk added that technology companies must embed child safety into their platforms by design.
