Nicosia, Cyprus. Unficyp’s new force commander, major general Mohammad Asadullah Minhazul Alam, arrived at the force’s headquarters on Monday to assume his duties. He was welcomed by the top UN official in Cyprus, Khassim Diagne, and force chief of staff brigadier Patrick Allen.
Arrival at headquarters
Alam, who is from Bangladesh, arrived on Monday at Unficyp headquarters to begin his role as the mission’s new force commander.

Unficyp said on social media that it looked forward to “major general Alam’s leadership in supporting peace and stability on the island”.
