Unplugged Cyprus launches phone-free events and plans retreat in the Troodos mountains

Nicosia, Cyprus. Unplugged Cyprus has launched a local initiative promoting phone-free experiences to help people reconnect with each other and their surroundings. The group runs monthly community events and is planning a second screen-free retreat in the Troodos mountains.

Aim of the initiative

Unplugged Cyprus says screens are designed to hold attention, while many people are seeking “real presence,” including uninterrupted conversation, shared laughter and meals without distractions. The initiative describes its approach as “not anti-technology” but “pro connection,” encouraging people to choose moments where phones are put away.

Monthly phone-free community events

The initiative hosts monthly community events that have included unplugged brunches, dinners and creative gatherings for families. Upon arrival, guests put their phones away and socialise using conversation cards, icebreakers and board games.

Upcoming retreat in the Troodos mountains

Unplugged Cyprus said it will hold its second phone-free retreat from February 27 to March 1 at Pine View Boutique Hotel in the Troodos mountains. The programme is expected to include board games, conversation corners, light hiking and a stargazing outing.

Wellness options and pricing details

Optional wellness experiences listed for the retreat include sauna, cold plunge, jacuzzi, reflexology sessions and one-to-one life coaching, which Unplugged Cyprus said are included in the price. The retreat is described as full board, with meals and refreshments included, while alcohol is not included.
