Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Thomas Hudner fires a Tomahawk land attack missile in support of Operation Epic Fury during the Iran war at an undisclosed location

Washington, United States. The US military has fired more than 850 Tomahawk cruise missiles in four weeks of war with Iran, the Washington Post reported, citing people familiar with the matter. Reuters said it could not immediately verify the report.

Report cites Pentagon concern over munition use

The Washington Post reported on Friday that the pace of Tomahawk use has alarmed some Pentagon officials and prompted internal discussions about how to make more precision weapons available.

White House says stockpiles are sufficient

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said in a statement to Reuters that the US military has “more than enough munitions, ammo, and weapons stockpiles to achieve the goals of Operation Epic Fury laid out by President Trump – and beyond.”

Leavitt also said President Trump would continue to call on defence contractors to more speedily build American-made weapons.

Pentagon did not respond to request for comment
