Nicosia, Cyprus. WISTA Cyprus has launched the 2026 Diversity and Inclusion in Shipping Awards, with nominations now open for initiatives promoting equality and inclusion across the maritime sector.
Awards focus and aims
In a statement, the association said the initiative recognises organisations, companies and individuals that have driven substantial progress in gender balance, diversity and inclusion across shipping. The awards honour practical action, innovative approaches and leadership aimed at creating fair, respectful and inclusive workplaces, both at sea and on land.
Organisers and supporting bodies
The awards are organised by WISTA Cyprus, with the support of WISTA International, the European Commission’s Women in Transport, the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union and leading maritime stakeholders.
Conference and presentation details
The awards will be presented during the high-level conference ‘Equality and Inclusion in the Maritime Sector’, which will be organised and hosted by the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union in Brussels on May 12, 2026.
Categories and eligibility
The 2026 awards will recognise excellence in three categories: Best Improvement in Diversity and Inclusion in the Maritime Workplace, Best Initiative for Respect and Well-being at Sea, and Best New Inclusion Initiative. Nominations are open to organisations, companies, groups and individuals in the maritime sector whose work has contributed to promoting diversity and inclusion.

WISTA Cyprus said the nomination platform is now available online, with the deadline for submissions set for April 30, 2026.
