Athens, Greece. Zela Jet has launched a helicopter flight service linking Athens with several Greek island destinations. The domestic service offers a faster and more flexible travel option for passengers moving between the Greek capital and islands across the Aegean and Ionian Seas.
Service coverage
The service is operated with Zela Jet’s own branded twin-engine Agusta 109C helicopter and is based in Athens. It covers domestic flights within Greece and provides an alternative to longer journeys by ferry or road.
Through the service, passengers can travel from Athens to Mykonos, Santorini, Paros, Naxos, Milos, Crete, Zakynthos and Corfu, as well as to several other destinations across Greece’s island network.
Aircraft and travel option
The Agusta 109C can carry up to seven passengers and is designed for short-distance travel between the mainland and island destinations. As a twin-engine helicopter, it meets the necessary specifications for this type of domestic air transport.
The direct nature of the flights allows travellers to reduce travel time and reach more remote destinations more easily. The service also provides an option for passengers planning to combine several islands during the same trip.
Target passengers
The launch is expected to appeal particularly to Cypriot travellers, who are among the most frequent visitors to Greece, especially during the summer holiday season. The service may also be useful for business travellers seeking faster connections between Athens and regional destinations.
Expansion of travel options
Beyond transport, the flights offer aerial views of the Aegean and Ionian island clusters, coastal landscapes and Greece’s geography. With the launch, Zela Jet is seeking to expand travel options within Greece in response to demand for faster, more flexible and tailored travel solutions.
