Kyiv, Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said on Friday that Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s rejection of his proposal for a meeting to end more than four years of conflict showed that the Kremlin did not want to end the war.

Zelenskiy criticizes Russian response

In his nightly video address, Zelenskiy said the Russian side was once again choosing war and described its response as weak.

Reaction to rejection

“Unfortunately, the Russian side is once again choosing war — everyone hear the response. A weak response,” Zelenskiy said. “I think this response will have disappointed many in the world.”
