Government to offer 570 discounted building plots to young families
The government will allocate about 570 state plots across Cyprus to eligible young families at 25 per cent of their market value.

Nicosia, Cyprus. The government will allocate around 570 plots of land for housing to young families, with the sites to be sold at 25 per cent of their market value, the Interior Ministry said on Sunday.
Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou said the project would allow eligible people to acquire land and build their own homes at a significantly reduced cost, while supporting rural and remote communities.
Housing scheme
The plots will be located in various areas across the island and will be available to young, low- and middle-income families seeking to build their own residence.
Ioannou said access to housing was a fundamental requirement for social cohesion and people’s wellbeing, adding that the government was using state land to meet the housing needs of young families.
Support for rural communities
The scheme also aims to strengthen rural communities, particularly in mountainous and remote areas, by attracting new residents and contributing to their revitalisation, Ioannou said.
Eligibility criteria
Applicants must be Cypriot nationals who are couples, with or without children, or single-parent families. At least one member of each couple must be under 45 when the application is submitted.
Applicants’ current residence must be within 15 kilometres of the plot they wish to purchase.
Annual household income must not exceed €45,000 for childless couples or single-parent households, €50,000 for families of three, €55,000 for families of four, and €65,000 for families of five or more.
Allocation priorities
The ministry said priority in plot allocation will be given to indigenous residents permanently living in a village, displaced persons permanently residing there, internal emigrants seeking to return to their village, repatriates or emigrants meeting special conditions, and permanent residents of neighbouring villages.
Where more than one person applies for the same plot, large families will receive first priority.
