Limassol, Cyprus. The 10km cycling tour held on Sunday as part of the 27th Lemesia sports festival recorded its highest participation to date.

Cycling routes planned

Mayor Yiannis Armeftis said the event, which closed major roads in Limassol, gave residents an opportunity to experience the city without cars.

He described the tour as a step towards making cycling part of daily life and said the municipality plans to build about 50 kilometres of cycling routes.

Lemesia programme continues

The cycling tour is organised by Limassol municipality under Lemesia, the city’s largest sporting event, which is being held for the 27th year.

The festival will continue on October 11 with the 28th Marios Agathangelou road race along the city’s main promenade, the Molos.
