Nicosia, Cyprus. Cyprus authorised 751 building permits in June 2026, an increase of 18.3 per cent compared with June 2025, according to the statistical service (Cystat). The permits had a combined value of €469.5 million, covered 394,717 square metres and provided for 2,122 dwelling units.


First-half permits and value increase

During January–June 2026, the number of building permits reached 4,401, up 29.5 per cent from 3,399 in the corresponding period a year earlier.

Their total value rose by 48.2 per cent to €2.57 billion from €1.73 billion, while the authorised floor area increased by 47.1 per cent to 2.10 million square metres from 1.43 million square metres.

The number of planned homes increased by 67.8 per cent to 11,100 units, compared with 6,616 in the first half of 2025.

Residential and non-residential buildings

Residential building permits accounted for most activity, reaching 3,227 in the first six months, up 26.9 per cent from 2,543 a year earlier. In June alone, 543 residential permits were authorised.

The authorised area of residential buildings increased by 65.8 per cent to 1.90 million square metres, compared with 1.15 million square metres a year earlier. Of the first-half total, 360,978 square metres were approved in June.

Non-residential building permits rose by 11.2 per cent to 406 in the first half, including 76 issued in June.

Civil engineering, plot division and roads

Civil engineering permits increased by 27.6 per cent to 250 during January–June, with 37 authorised in June.

Permits for the division of plots rose by 70.6 per cent to 423 in the first half, compared with 248 a year earlier. Of these, 80 were authorised in June.

Road construction permits more than doubled, increasing by 102.1 per cent to 95 from 47, with 15 issued in June.
