Nicosia, Cyprus. The annual WIP (Work in Progress) Festival opens on October 16, bringing interactive artworks, installations, exhibitions and performances to downtown Nicosia. Organised by the CYENS Centre of Excellence, its sixth edition runs until October 25.

Ten days of art and research

According to the festival programme, more than 60 artists representing 15 countries will present over 50 works during the ten-day event. Activities will be centred at CYENS, with additional venues across old Nicosia’s historic centre.

The organisers invite members of the public, artists and special guests to examine how research connects with artistic practice, science and technology. This year’s theme, Flows, considers the currents shaping the world through water and energy, alongside data and networks, stories and memories.

The programme also includes workshops and talks.

Friday opening programme

The official opening takes place this Friday with a series of special events. The 2026 exhibition will welcome visitors between 6.30pm and 10pm, alongside artistic performances and live music throughout the festival venues.

At Thinker Maker Space, Filippo Rosati will present Cognitive Overload from 6.30pm until 7pm. A performance by Selas Dance Company by Maria Kamberi will follow at CYENS.

Rumba Attack is scheduled for 7.45pm at Dimarchou Lellou Demetriadi Square, bringing a blend of rumba, flamenco and Mediterranean influences. Rami Sarieddine x Tatsuru Arai will perform at CYENS at 8.30pm, before Nabuma takes the stage in the square at 9pm. DJ Annie follows at 10pm.

Fork Food Market will run throughout the opening evening, with Road Buns, Top Dog, Rha Tha Thai and Foofies among its vendors.
