London, United Kingdom. Five Metropolitan Police officers were injured after a police boat struck Westminster Bridge in central London on Friday. Officers who entered the water were rescued, police said.


Emergency response

The vessel, operated by the Metropolitan Police’s Marine Policing Unit, hit the bridge at about 3.40pm local time, or 5.40pm Cyprus time.

Additional police officers and other emergency services responded to the scene. The Port of London Authority said it was also supporting the response.
