CBC hosts joint visit from top European banking regulators in Cyprus

Nicosia, Cyprus. The Central Bank of Cyprus hosted a joint visit from senior European financial regulators on May 22, 2026, to underline Cyprus’s role in continental banking mechanisms. The bank said the meeting included discussions on supervision, resolution and developments affecting the Cypriot banking sector.

Regulatory visit

According to an update from the CBC, shared on Monday on the social media platform X, the institution received Claudia Buch, chair of the Supervisory Board of the Single Supervisory Mechanism, and Dominique Laboureix, chair of the Single Resolution Board.

The CBC said the presence of both officials highlighted its ongoing role within the Single Supervisory Mechanism and the Single Resolution Mechanism.

Discussions

The meeting was used to align institutional agendas and regulatory frameworks, the CBC said.

It also provided an opportunity to exchange views on supervision and resolution matters.

Banking sector priorities

The institutional discussions also covered the latest macroeconomic developments and evolving priorities for the Cypriot banking sector.
