Troodos mountain roads slippery as cold weather and landslides persist, police say

Nicosia, Cyprus. Several mountain roads in the Troodos area remained slippery on Wednesday due to cold weather and landslides, police said. Authorities said the roads are open but advised drivers to exercise particular caution.

Landslides reported on multiple routes

Police said landslides were reported on Wednesday morning on the Pedoulas-Kykkos-Kampi, Kykkos-Tsakkistras, Kampos-Orounta and Orounta-Kato Pyrgos roads.

Frost creates slippery conditions on other roads

Several other roads were affected by frost, causing slippery conditions on the Prodromou-Lemythou, Prodromos-Platres, Kakopetria-Pinewood-Pedoulas and Kakopetria-Karvounas routes.

Snow depth recorded at Chionistra

Police said the snow depth at Chionistra, Cyprus’ highest point, stood at 22 centimetres on Wednesday morning.
