Extradition of the hijacker

Сейф ад-Дин Мустафа

Egypt has requested the authorities of Cyprus to extradite the hijacker of the EgyptAir aircraft. The relevant official application has already been filed.

The Court hearing on the case of Saif ad-Din Mustafa took place on Wednesday in the District Court of Nicosia, where a decision was made to imprison him for 8 days.

The passenger aircraft A320 of EgyprAir which was flying from Alexandria to Cairo was hijacked on Tuesday at 8:05am.

The hijacker demanded to divert the plane to Turkey and threatened to blow up the aircraft. However, due to shortage of fuel, the aircraft landed in the Larnaca airport. Soon after landing, he began to release the hostages one by one and demanded to bring his ex-wife (who lives in Cyprus) to the airport. When she arrived to the airport, Mastafa gave himself in to the police.

Luckily, no one was injured during the incident.
