Twenty-one rescued after boat capsizes off Limassol
All 21 people aboard a boat that capsized off Dasoudi on Monday morning reached shore safely and were found to be in good health.

Limassol, Cyprus. Twenty-one people were rescued after a boat capsized off Dasoudi on Monday morning. Some reached shore on their own, and all were later found to be in good health.
Search and rescue response
The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) activated the national “Nearchos” search and rescue plan at 11.15am after being alerted that the vessel had capsized in the Dasoudi sea area.
Lieutenant Commander George Economou told the Cyprus Mail that the boat had been relatively close to shore when it overturned. He said lifeguards were activated immediately and the wider search and rescue mechanism was mobilised.
Helicopters from the police aviation unit and the National Guard’s 460 Search and Rescue Squadron joined the operation. Marine police vessels and a boat operated by Limassol district lifeguards also took part, alongside Limassol police personnel and ambulances from state health services organisation Okypy.
All brought ashore
Economou said some of those aboard reached shore on their own. All 21 were brought safely to shore, examined by ambulance crews and allowed to leave after being found to be in good health.
