Palestinian committee completes Cyprus talks on Gaza post-war administration

Nicosia, Cyprus. A Palestinian technocratic committee expected to play a role in Gaza’s post-war administration said late on Wednesday that it had completed two days of meetings in Cyprus. The discussions focused on humanitarian management, reconstruction and the framework for the territory’s future governance.

Meetings in Cyprus

The committee said it held a series of meetings with experts from the Board of Peace, the office of the High Representative for Gaza, Nikolay Mladenov, and the Tony Blair Institute.

According to the committee, the talks addressed projects that could be implemented immediately, reconstruction plans, security issues, and mechanisms for transparency and accountability towards international donors.

Support for proposed plan

The committee reiterated its support for the 20-point plan put forward by US President Donald Trump and said it was ready to assume responsibilities in coordination with the Board of Peace. It did not provide a specific timeline.

Transitional administration effort

The initiative is part of a US-backed effort to establish a transitional administration in Gaza aimed at removing Hamas from power and restoring essential services.

The second phase of the agreement envisaged a gradual Israeli withdrawal and the handover of Hamas’ weapons, a process that has not yet been implemented. Hamas rejects any discussion on the issue.
