Motorcycle destroyed in suspected arson attack in Akaki

Akaki, Cyprus. A motorcycle was set on fire shortly after midnight on Tuesday in the Nicosia district village of Akaki, police said. The vehicle, which had been left on a football pitch, was completely destroyed.

Fire reported after midnight

Police told the Cyprus News Agency they were informed of the burning motorcycle at around 12.15am.

Firefighters unable to save vehicle

Firefighters attended the scene shortly afterwards and extinguished the blaze, but were unable to prevent the motorcycle from being entirely destroyed.

Investigation underway

According to police, the fire appears to have been started maliciously. The scene was cordoned off and investigations are ongoing.
