Limassol, Cyprus. A fire that broke out on Wednesday afternoon at the technical school of Limassol was brought under control by the fire brigade. No injuries were reported.

Fire contained within school grounds

The blaze began in a pile of old electrical appliances within the school’s fenced grounds and extended to an adjacent area covered with a metal canopy containing desks, chairs, and other old equipment.

Firefighters responded quickly and prevented any damage to nearby warehouses.

Fire brigade statement

Fire brigade spokesperson Andreas Kettis said the fire was extinguished a short time after it was discovered.

“Members of the fire department entered from two different points, using a number of breathing apparatus and water hoses, and successfully brought the fire under control,” he said.

Kettis said the fire appeared limited to the pile of old equipment.

Investigation ongoing

Authorities are investigating the cause of the blaze in collaboration with the police.

The school remains operational while authorities continue their inquiries.
