About the venue

The old elementary school of Lofou is a neoclassical stone building on the highest point of Lofou village, 26 km north-west of Limassol at about 800 metres above sea level. Its architecture combines neoclassical forms with features of the village’s traditional houses. It closed as a school after the 1972–73 school year, when no pupils were left in the village.

Its courtyard holds two works by sculptor Theodoulos Theodoulou: a bust of the 1821 hero Ioannis Stavrianos (unveiled on 1 November 1998) and a statue of Sergeant Elias Kannaouros, killed in 1974 (unveiled on 16 August 2002).
