One person dead in Strovolos factory fire

One person is reported to have burned to death in the large fire raging in the industrial area of Strovolos.

The person could not be saved despite massive efforts of the fire service.

Due to the fire Spyros Kyprianou road up to the Kalamios roundabout was closed in both directions but has now been reopened.

According to first reports the fire broke out at the factory, from where it spread.

Plumes of smoke cover much of Nicosia.
