Yellow heat warning issued as temperatures forecast to reach 40C inland

Nicosia, Cyprus. The meteorological department issued a yellow warning on Friday for extreme temperatures, with inland areas expected to reach up to 40C.

The warning will be in effect from 2pm until 4.30pm.

Forest fire risk

The forestry department also issued a red alert for an increased risk of forest fires following a week of extreme temperatures across the island.
