Woman killed in stabbing in Ayios Georgios near Trikomo
A 61-year-old woman was killed in Ayios Georgios near Trikomo, while her former husband was hospitalised after reportedly injuring himself.

Ayios Georgios, Cyprus. A 61-year-old woman, identified as Saliha Ozkol, was stabbed to death in the village of Ayios Georgios near Trikomo on Monday morning, with her 71-year-old former husband reported to be the suspect.
According to Yeniduzen, Ozkol was attacked following an argument and died at the scene from her injuries. Her former husband reportedly seriously injured himself after returning to his home in Famagusta and was taken to Famagusta state hospital on Salamis Road.
Previous court orders
Bugun Kibris reported that Ozkol had allegedly been subjected to violence by her then husband in 2024 and was knocked unconscious.
The man appeared before the Turkish Cypriot Famagusta district court on July 21 last year on charges of trespassing, assault, illegal possession of a knife, battery and failure to comply with a restraining order obtained by Ozkol.
On August 15 last year, the Turkish Cypriot Trikomo family court issued a further order barring him from coming within 200 metres of Ozkol or communicating with her in writing, verbally, by telephone, text message, email or social media.
He was also sentenced to three months in prison in relation to the assault case.
Protest planned
Opposition party CTP said its women’s branch would hold a protest outside Turkish Cypriot ‘prime minister’ Unal Ustel’s office on Tuesday, calling for further action to prevent violence against women.
“We cannot wait for another woman to be murdered. We call on the government to resign,” the party said.
CTP also referred to a 22-year-old woman who was stabbed at a supermarket in northern Nicosia and said she was still fighting for her life.
