The Passion of Joan of Arc

Thursday 14th and Friday 15th of April at 20:30

The broadcast of one of the most famous silent films directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer “The Passion of Joan of Arc” will be shown in Limassol and Nicosia. The film will be accompanied by the original soundtrack written by Yannis Sfyris performed by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra and the vocal ensemble from the Limassol musical lyceum.

The film tells the exciting story of Joan of Arc, a young lady, who led the French army to several key victories over Britons durng the Hundred Years’ War. French soldiers believed that Joan is a saint sent by the God to help France. In 1429 she was captures by the English soldiers and was trialed by the Roman-Catholic Court. She was accused and found guilty of witchcraft and heresy, she was sentenced to death by burning.
