Cyprus’s ‘Walk of Fame’. What will this symbol of success look like?

A nationwide vote is now open to choose the best design for the visual symbol (star) of the Cyprus ‘Walk of Fame’! Prizes are on offer for the most active voters.

Cyprus ‘Walk of Fame’ — the Cyprus Walk of Fame — will very soon take its place of honour in Limassol. The project is organised by CWOF Cyprus Walk of Fame LTD and Limassol Municipality.

Almost everyone knows what the ‘Walk of Fame’ is. The Hollywood ‘Walk of Fame’ is a boulevard featuring more than 2,500 stars bearing the names of celebrities from around the world, and has been attracting the attention of the international press and tourists visiting Los Angeles for many years.

Unlike its American counterpart, the Cypriot ‘Walk of Fame’ will be the most open in the world. Nominees for the awards will be selected through a public nomination process, whereby anyone can nominate a candidate on the project’s website.

The ‘Walk of Fame’ plans to play an active role in all Cypriot cultural and social events: competitions, festivals and TV shows. There are plans to organise its own television competition for all kinds of Cypriot talent.

In addition, the Cyprus ‘Walk of Fame’ offers the opportunity to purchase a ‘star for a private individual’. Anyone wishing to do so can, for a modest sum, present a ‘star’ to their child or partner, or give such a lovely surprise to a newlywed couple.

Of course, these will be different ‘stars’ and a specific place will be set aside for them, but the fact remains – the person celebrating their birthday will have a star on the Cyprus ‘Walk of Fame’.

The initial list of categories is as follows: the arts, sport, business, literature, medicine and community service.
