Johannesburg, South Africa. At least 12 people were killed and nine injured when gunmen opened fire at an informal settlement east of Johannesburg on Tuesday evening, police said on Wednesday. Authorities said a manhunt had been launched for the suspects.
Attack at informal settlement
The attack took place at the Jumpers informal settlement in Cleveland. Police said more than 10 suspects arrived in a white Toyota Quantum, entered the settlement from two access points and opened fire at multiple locations before fleeing in the same vehicle.
Investigation underway
Police said the motive for the attack was not known.
