Nicosia, Cyprus. Police said on Monday that 15 people were arrested during overnight nationwide checks linked to immigration, property crime and traffic offences. Officers also issued 341 traffic citations and seized 18 vehicles during the operation.
Arrests and offences
The arrests were linked to offences including living in Cyprus without the required residence documents, burglary, theft and traffic violations.
Checks and citations
During the operation, officers stopped 538 vehicles and checked 713 drivers and passengers. A total of 341 traffic citations were issued, including 125 for speeding offences.
Alcohol and drug tests
Police carried out 110 alcohol tests, with three drivers testing positive. Two drug tests were conducted, one of which returned a positive result.
Seizures and inspections
In addition, 18 vehicles were seized as part of ongoing investigations. Officers also inspected 37 premises, resulting in three further complaints.
