Limassol, Cyprus. Police arrested a 19-year-old after the pickup truck he was driving allegedly collided with a police motorcycle, causing minor injuries to the officer riding it.
Incident
The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon after officers signalled the driver to stop because the pickup truck did not have registration plates, police said on Saturday.
According to police, the driver stopped before reversing into a police motorcycle behind him, unseating the officer and causing a minor injury.
Police response
The officer drew his weapon and fired at the pickup truck, striking one of its tyres three times. The driver then left the scene.
The officer was taken to Limassol General Hospital, where he received first aid and was discharged.
Arrest and investigation
Police said their investigation led them to the 19-year-old, whose pickup truck was found parked outside his home at 11.15pm on Friday.
After noticing officers had arrived, he allegedly attempted to flee but was arrested. He was expected to appear in court later on Saturday, while the investigation remains ongoing.
