Nicosia, Cyprus. The 2026 Cyprus-China Film Week concluded in Nicosia on June 15, organisers said on Thursday. The six-day event was held to mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Cyprus.
Organisers and programme
The cultural event was jointly organised by the Chinese embassy in Cyprus, the National Film Administration of China and the Cypriot deputy ministry of culture.
The closing highlight was the premiere of the Chinese martial arts film Blades of the Guardians: Wind Rises in the Desert.
Film presentation and artist participation
According to the organisers, Wu Jing played the bodyguard Daoma, while Chen Lijun, a Yue Opera performer, appeared as the Western Regions leader Ayuya. Organisers said the two artists watched the film with local audiences and took part in on-site interactions.
During a sharing session, Wu Jing said sincere stories and emotions transcend national and cultural boundaries. Chen Lijun spoke about her cross-acting experience and the sense of civilisational integration she felt during her trip to Cyprus.

Organisers said the participation of the two artists reflected the inheritance and innovation of contemporary Chinese literature and art. They said the film week served as a cross-cultural bridge, bringing Chinese culture to the Mediterranean and contributing to China-Cyprus friendship.
Nearly 200 guests attended the closing ceremony. Those present included chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Chinese embassy in Cyprus Zhou Yunliang, executive deputy director of the National Film Administration of China Mao Yu, Cypriot senior officials from the deputy culture ministry and the police, local dignitaries, diplomatic envoys and overseas Chinese representatives.
