31-year-old arrested after motorcycle theft and assault in Paphos

Paphos, Cyprus. A 31-year-old was arrested on Sunday in connection with the theft of a motorcycle in Paphos. The suspect is under investigation for multiple offences, police said.


Theft report and alleged assault

A 27-year-old reported at noon on Sunday that his motorcycle had been stolen while parked outside the block of flats where he lives.

At around 6pm, the 27-year-old saw the motorcycle and attempted to retrieve it, but was assaulted by two unknown people who beat him, threw him to the ground, and fled on the stolen motorcycle.

Identification and investigation

The man identified one of the alleged perpetrators, aged 31, but did not recover the motorcycle.

Police were called and arrested the 31-year-old, who is being investigated for conspiracy to commit a felony, robbery, theft, assault causing bodily harm, and malicious damage.

Medical examination

The motorcycle owner was examined at Paphos general hospital and was found to have sustained bruises and cuts.
