Larnaca, Cyprus. A 59-year-old man who had been remanded in police custody during a fraud investigation died at Larnaca general hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest on Tuesday morning.
Death in hospital custody
Police said Panicos Kalaintzis from Paphos died at around 2.15am at Larnaca general hospital, where he had been admitted on March 11, the day of his arrest. During his treatment, he was guarded by police.
Remand order
The Larnaca district court issued a six-day remand order against him on March 12.
