Nicosia, Cyprus. Business leaders, policymakers and other stakeholders met on Friday at a roundtable organised by the American Chamber of Commerce in Cyprus (AmCham Cyprus) to discuss the national artificial intelligence strategy and its practical implementation.
Chief Scientist and National AI Strategy chair Demetris Skourides addressed the event under the theme “Building Cyprus’s AI Future From Vision to National Framework”.
Strategy implementation
According to AmCham Cyprus, participants examined how artificial intelligence could support innovation, competitiveness and sustainable economic growth as the technology reshapes economies and industries.
The discussion focused on positioning Cyprus in the digital economy through a clear national vision and an actionable artificial intelligence framework. Participants also reviewed progress on the National AI Strategy, with emphasis on moving from planning to implementation.
Stakeholder cooperation
AmCham Cyprus said participants highlighted the need for broad stakeholder involvement throughout the process.
Future artificial intelligence initiatives and programmes should be developed through cooperation among business, government, academia and civil society, the chamber said, to create a framework that delivers tangible benefits across the country.
Economic priorities
Priorities discussed included using artificial intelligence to improve productivity, increase efficiency and create business opportunities, strengthening Cyprus’ economic competitiveness.
Participants also considered the importance of attracting investment and highly skilled talent, including technology companies, startups and researchers, through a supportive innovation environment. The discussion examined ways to accelerate artificial intelligence adoption across the public and private sectors to support innovation and economic growth.
