Annabelle general manager outlines approach to preserving hotel identity amid changing luxury travel trends

Nicosia, Cyprus. Annabelle Hotel General Manager Razvan Bordea said the hotel is seeking to preserve the character long associated with the property while adapting to changing expectations in luxury hospitality. He said the approach focuses on maintaining the feeling guests associate with the hotel while introducing changes that reflect current travel preferences.

Preserving a sense of familiarity

Bordea said preserving Annabelle’s character does not mean keeping everything unchanged. He said the priority is to protect the feeling guests experience when they arrive.

He said many returning guests describe walking through the gardens or into the lobby as feeling like coming home. According to Bordea, maintaining that emotional connection and extending it to more guests remains a central objective.

Adapting to new expectations

Bordea said guest expectations have evolved over time. He said today’s travellers value thoughtful design, intuitive technology and experiences that feel personal rather than standardised.

He said the hotel’s role is to introduce such enhancements quietly, without altering what he described as the soul of the property. Bordea said Annabelle has continued to evolve while showing respect for its history and for guests who have made the hotel part of their lives over decades.

Shift in luxury hospitality

Bordea said luxury hospitality has changed significantly over the past decade. He said luxury is now less defined by formality and more by authenticity.

According to Bordea, guests increasingly seek places with character, genuine hospitality and a sense of connection to the destination while expecting more personalised experiences.
