Apoel centenary motorcade disrupts traffic in Nicosia

Nicosia, Cyprus. A motorcade organised by Apoel supporters to mark the club’s 100th anniversary caused traffic disruption in parts of Nicosia on Thursday, as police temporarily closed roads for the procession.

Police said the operation was under control, with officers deployed along the route to manage traffic and maintain public order.

Road closures and delays

Limassol Avenue was closed from the traffic lights to the Apoel fan club on Makarios Avenue, while the Aglandjia roundabout was temporarily shut to allow the convoy to pass.

Motorists were diverted or delayed, with long traffic queues forming as the procession travelled through the capital.

Reports of firecrackers

Members of the public reported hearing repeated firecrackers during the motorcade. Unconfirmed reports also suggested pyrotechnics may have been thrown towards passing vehicles.

Police had not confirmed those claims at the time of publishing.
