Paphos, Cyprus. The court of appeal on Wednesday rejected suspended Paphos mayor Phedonas Phedonos’ appeal against his suspension. He was suspended from his duties in February after being accused of rape and domestic abuse.
Suspension remains in place
Phedonos had been suspended by Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou. Since the suspension, he has been paid one third of his mayoral salary by the state.
Conditions for return
His suspension will end when legal proceedings regarding the allegations against him have concluded. If he returns to his duties, he will be entitled to the full amount of the salaries lost during his suspension.
