Nicosia, Cyprus. The Apple Hill String Quartet will perform at The Shoe Factory in Nicosia on February 13, joined by Cypriot clarinettist George Georgiou. The concert is presented by the Pharos Arts Foundation.
Concert and performers
The internationally acclaimed quartet, known for its interpretation of classical repertoire and support for new music, features musicians Elise Kuder, Jesse MacDonald, Mike Kelley and Jacob MacKay. The performance will take place in the heart of Nicosia at 8.30pm.
Ensemble background
As the resident ensemble at the Apple Hill Centre for Chamber Music in the United States, the quartet’s performances and educational activities focus on acceptance, inclusivity, creative expression and encouragement, and aim to cultivate bonds among people of different backgrounds, cultures and ages.
Awards and appearances
The Apple Hill String Quartet is the winner of the Chamber Music America Acclaim Award and has appeared at venues including the Moscow Conservatory, Curtis Institute of Music, Gitameit Music School in Yangon, Myanmar, and the Ketermaya refugee camp outside Beirut.
Programme
The programme will include string quartets by Joseph Haydn, Grammy-nominated Chickasaw composer Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate, and New York-based composer Dana Lyn. The concert will culminate with Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, featuring George Georgiou.
