Nicosia, Cyprus. Bank of Cyprus shareholders approved a final cash dividend of €0.50 per share for the 2025 financial year, while tourism officials reported continued pressure on arrivals amid a sharp decline in April 2026. Cyprus is also hosting official meetings of the European Banking Federation this week, according to the Association of Cyprus Banks.
Bank of Cyprus dividend approval
The Bank of Cyprus (BoC) said on Monday that shareholders approved a final cash dividend of €0.50 per share for the 2025 financial year, marking the largest payout since the bank resumed distributions in 2022.
The approval followed the annual general meeting held on May 15. The bank said the decision confirms a total dividend of €0.70 per share when combined with the interim dividend of €0.20 already paid in October 2025.
BoC said the total distribution amounts to €305 million, representing an increase of approximately 25 per cent year-on-year. It said this corresponds to a 70 per cent payout ratio, placing it at the top end of the group’s stated 2025 distribution policy.
Tourism outlook and arrivals data
Association of Cyprus Travel and Tourism Agents (ACTTA) president Charis Papacharalambous on Monday outlined a cautious outlook for the island’s tourism sector, warning of continued pressures but expressing hope that declines in arrivals will gradually ease as the year progresses.
Earlier on Monday, the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat) reported a 27.6 per cent year-on-year decline in tourist arrivals for April 2026, citing the deepening impact of the war in Iran on the island’s tourism sector.
Cystat said arrivals fell to 303,031 for the month, contributing to a 17.9 per cent decline for the first four months of the year compared to the same period in 2025.
Speaking to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), Papacharalambous said the association remains in constant contact with its partners abroad and is working to promote Cyprus through offers and new travel programmes. “We continuously promote anything that can attract tourism and send positive messages abroad,” he said.
European banking federation meetings in Cyprus
The Association of Cyprus Banks (ACB) said on Monday that Cyprus will host the official meetings of the European Banking Federation (EBF) this week, placing the island at the centre of key developments in the European banking sector.
