Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre launches advanced PET/CT service

Nicosia, Cyprus. The Bank of Cyprus Oncology Centre launched a new PET/CT service on Wednesday, saying it will improve cancer diagnosis and treatment monitoring. The centre described the system as the most advanced PET/CT technology currently available in Cyprus.

Advanced imaging

PET/CT combines positron emission tomography, or PET, which detects cell metabolic activity, with computed tomography, or CT, which provides detailed anatomical images. The centre said the technology helps doctors identify cancer areas more accurately, assess treatment responses and develop personalised treatment plans.

Expansion of services

General manager Panos Ergatoudes called the PET/CT scan an important development in expanding patient care services. He said advanced diagnostic technology strengthens the centre’s ability to meet the needs of patients and the medical community quickly and accurately.

Funding and integration

The oncology centre said the initiative supports its mission to provide comprehensive, high-quality, patient-centred oncology care in Cyprus. It credited an anonymous donor for funding the construction of the Cyclotron Unit and the PET/CT system, describing it as a significant contribution to cancer care and public health in Cyprus.

The centre said the PET/CT unit is expected to be fully integrated into its oncology services soon.
