Nicosia, Cyprus. Streaming releases include Best Medicine, based on the British comedy-drama Doc Martin, the return of Ted Lasso and One Hundred Years of Solitude: Part 2 on Netflix.
Best Medicine
Based on the long-running British comedy-drama Doc Martin, Best Medicine follows Dr Martin Best, a Boston surgeon who leaves his prestigious career after developing a fear of blood.
He becomes a general practitioner in the small fishing village where he spent childhood summers. His detached manner and aversion to local residents bring him into conflict with the village’s colourful community.
The series was originally produced for Fox and is being streamed on Netflix under a third-party agreement. Its availability in Cyprus is uncertain.
Ted Lasso returns
Jason Sudeikis returns as Ted Lasso, the football coach whose previous work focused on his ability to understand people despite his lack of knowledge of the sport.
Set three years after the events of the third season, the new series sees Lasso return to Richmond to coach a second-division women’s football team. The storyline introduces new players, challenges and motivational speeches.
The original cast returns, except Phil Dunster, who played Jamie Tartt and is absent because of scheduling issues.
One Hundred Years of Solitude: Part 2
One Hundred Years of Solitude: Part 2 is scheduled to arrive on Netflix on August 5.
Netflix released the first part in December, adapting Gabriel García Márquez’s novel, which had long been regarded as difficult to bring to the screen.
