Caicedo header lifts Chelsea into eighth ahead of Champions League finale at Napoli

London, United Kingdom. Chelsea boosted their chances of a Champions League top-eight finish with a 1-0 win over Pafos after Moises Caicedo headed in a 78th-minute winner. The result moved Chelsea into eighth on goal difference with one match remaining.

Chelsea controlled more than 70% possession against an organised Pafos side but struggled to create clear openings for much of the match. Caicedo’s goal came from a Pedro Neto corner to finally break the deadlock and keep Chelsea in contention to go straight through to the knockout rounds.

Chelsea, winners of the competition in 2012 and 2021, are one of eight teams on 13 points, making goal difference crucial. They face a tough away match next Wednesday at 25th-placed Napoli, managed by former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte. Rosenior said Conte is a great coach and added that Napoli “have to win which changes the dynamic.”
